Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 2 (1-inch) pieces fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons whole allspice
  • 2 bottles (750 mL each) Finest Reserve™ by Our Family® Chardonnay
  • 2 medium lemons, sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup brandy
  • 1 cup Our Family® Granulated Sugar
  • 8 star anise plus additional for garnish (optional)
  • 6 Finest Reserve™ by Our Family® Cinnamon Sticks plus additional for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. In 8-inch square piece of cheesecloth, wrap star anise, cinnamon sticks, ginger and allspice; tie with kitchen string to secure.
  2. In large saucepot, stir wine, lemons, blueberries, brandy and sugar; add wrapped spices and heat to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce to medium-low; cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove wrapped spices. Makes about 8 cups.
  3. Serve mulled wine garnished with star anise and/or cinnamon sticks, if desired.
