Super Moist Cherry & Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 box of Our Family® White Cake Mix
  • 3 oz Cherry Gelatin
  • 42 oz (2 cans) Our Family® Cherry Pie Filling, divided
  • 2 Our Family® eggs, lightly beaten
  • ⅓ cup Our Family® Vegetable Oil
  • ¼ cup water

 

Frosting

  • 4 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • ½ Our Family® Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 2 Tbsp Our Family® Butter
  • 1 tsp Cherry Extract
  • 1 cup Our Family® Powdered Sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13 baking pan.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, cherry gelatin, 1 can cherry pie filling, eggs, oil and water. Mix until thoroughly combined.
  4. Pour batter into baking pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
  5. For the frosting, combine the chocolate, cream, butter and cherry extract. Microwave for 2 minutes on high in 30 second increments, stirring in between each increment until the chocolate is melted. Whisk until mixture is smooth, add the powdered sugar and continue whisking until smooth. Spread frosting over the entire cake, top with remaining can of pie filling.
